Paris Agreement

The “Paris Agreement” is a climate change agreement adopted at the Paris Climate Change Conference on December 12, 2015 and signed in New York on April 22, 2016. The agreement makes arrangements for global action on climate change after 2020.

The long-term goal of the Paris Agreement is to control the global average temperature rise within 2 degrees Celsius compared with the pre-industrial period, and strive to limit the temperature rise within 1.5 degrees Celsius.

On September 23, 2019, Russian Prime Minister Medvedev signed a government decree to approve the Paris climate agreement, and Russia formally joined the Paris climate agreement. On November 4, 2019, the United States started the formal process of withdrawing from the Paris Agreement.

On November 4, 2020, the United States has officially withdrawn from the Paris Agreement. It was reported on November 30 that Biden had discussed with government officials to return to the Paris Agreement.
